(slow guitar music plays) Hey, old friend Where have you been How many roads have you been travelin' Now we're here The coast is clear Let's kick back and revel in the years Pick a bone, chew the fat Shoot the breeze, share a laugh Tell me the one I've heard a thousand times before Tall tales and dirty joke Pass the bottle and the smoke I can't think of any other way I'd rather pass tonight - You ever been to New Mexico?
I'm sure you've gigged here.
- [Jonathan Tyler] Oh, yes.
- Yeah?
- Part of the reason I like to go on tour is just to stop off and try to discover new places all around the country.
I've, it's one of my favorite things to do.
So I've definitely spent a lot of time in New Mexico, especially 'cause I'm really into Native American jewelry, turquoise, and Western American vintage clothes, especially the fifties, sixties era.
I know I've gotten like, you know, turquoise Native American jewelry on almost all the time.
And I found that New Mexico is extremely rich with the best stuff.
Someday These days I've played Albuquerque a few times I've passed through, you know, on the way to California from Texas countless times.
And I love coming through here.
Will be worth remembering My old friend (audience cheering and applaudin (upbeat instrumental music) Kept a shotgun in the front seat In case she ran outta luck Full tank of red diesel In the back of the truck And like a wanted man in a foreign land Like a pirate out to sea When the time was right She'd drive all night From here to Tennessee Sing, oh, oh, it's music to her ears Oh, oh, just rolling through the gears Oh, oh, we're doing ninety all the way Oh, oh, 'cause we were just another rebel in the USA Hey Well, I never thought to question The cargo that we hauled No friends in Washington If ever we did fall We took a chance 'Cause we loved to dance Well, luck was on our side We stashed the cash behind the dash Till we reached that borderline Oh, oh, it's music to our ears Oh, oh, just rolling through the gears Oh, oh, we're doing ninety all the way Oh, oh, 'cause we were just another rebel in the USA (upbeat instrumental music) Oh, oh, and it's music to our ears Oh, oh, we're just rolling through those gears Oh, oh, we're doing ninety all the way Oh, oh, 'cause we were just another rebel in the USA Just another rebel in the USA Just another rebel in the USA, yeah See you gotta drive a lot You better drive baby You gotta drive, sugar You better drive faster now, baby (upbeat instrumental music) (instrumental music intensifies) (instrumental music slows) (audience cheers and applauds) All right We're just cruising now, honey All right We're just another rebel in the USA (audience cheering and applauding) Mr. Paul Val on the guitar over here One of Austin's finest.
(audience cheering) (upbeat instrumental music) Time to be movin' on Fare thee well and so long When you wake I'll be gone Time to be movin' on 'Cause time is wasting And I'm still chasing Another high Time erases Endless faces Somewhere behind Time to be movin' on Fare thee well and so long When you wake I'll be gone Time to be movin' on (upbeat guitar music) Time keeps slipping through the cracks And all the world is at our backs As we try to hold our head up to the sky Yeah, the walls we build come crashing down The reapers heel don't make a sound And reason never leaves a reason why Will tomorrow come When tomorrow comes Time to be movin' on Fare thee well and so long When you wake I'll be gone Time to be movin' on Time to be movin' on Fare thee well and so long When you wake I'll be gone Time to be movin' on Got to keep movin' on Got to keep movin' on Got to keep movin' on (audience cheers and applauds) Hey, old friend We're gonna meet again Further down the road - "Old Friend" came about, I was inspired by a little honky tonk bar that's in my backyard in Austin, Texas There's a sign on the wall that was put there I would say in the eighties.
It says, "Someday these days will be worth remembering."
These days Will be worth remembering - And I was just kind of like, man, that would be a really good lyric in a song.
And so I just kind of took that inspiration, you know, not just from the words on the wall but also from the music that happens in this bar.
I mean, it's very traditional blues and folk music that kind of is just ingrained in the wood at this point.
Someday These days - You just never know who it's going to touch and how it's gonna reach people in different parts of the world.
And this has just been one of those songs that has that resonance.
(upbeat harmonica music) So we wanna play a song that's been out for a year or so.
It's called "Old Friend."
And so it's about maybe not seeing somebody for a while and then this kind of friend where right when you see them all the years have been forgotten And you're right back where you were when you left them.
Pretty relevant over the last couple years, I think.
(audience cheers and applauds) (upbeat guitar music) Hey, old friend Where have you been How many roads have you been travelin Now we're here The coast is clear Let's kick back and revel in the years Pick a bone, chew the fat Shoot the breeze, share a laugh Tell me the one I've heard a thousand times before Tall tales and dirty joke Pass the bottle and the smoke I can't think of any other way I'd rather pass tonight (upbeat instrumental music) Hey, old friend Remember when We grew our feathers and we took to the wind Now we know The highs and lows Times like those, they bring us close Hey Someday These days Will be worth everything Someday These days Will be worth remembering My old friend (upbeat instrumental music) (audience cheers) Hey, old friend We're gonna meet again Further down the road When fate weighs in We'll be home Nowhere to roam We'll kick back and let the night pass slow Pick a bone, chew the fat Shoot the breeze, share a laugh Tell me the one I've heard a thousand times before Tall tales and dirty joke Pass the bottle and the smoke I can't think of any other way I'd rather pass tonight Hey Someday These days Will be worth everything Someday These days Will be worth remembering Someday These days Will be worth everything Someday These days Will be worth remembering Yeah (upbeat harmonica music) Whoo-hoo Yeah, yeah Oh (audience cheering and applauding) Thank you.
- [Audience Member 2] Let's go.
Hey.
- You're taking the inspiration, which comes I think from a divine place You're taking discipline to finish out the idea, and then you're taking the time to build the team and synthesize all those energies And then to focus it on a project, a song There's a lot of stages to getting to ultimately what the inspiration was for you Someday These days Will be worth I find it to be somewhat of a magical, spiritual thing that I like the idea of hypnotizing a listener.
I feel like it connects to us on this deeper spiritual level.
For me it's all about getting more and more potent, and just trying to get better and better at tapping into this thing that we all share.
- [Audience Member] Woo.
Yeah.
- That was pretty tight.
- [Audience Member] One more.
- One more.
- [Audience Member] One more, lets go!
Come on.
That's right.
